HISTORY (THEN)

Landhuis Klein Santa Martha is a large 480-hectare sugar cane and divi-divi plantation dating back to the 1700's. Landhuis Klein Santa Martha was once one of the top three producers of salt on the island, along with Landhuis Groot Santa Martha and Landhuis San Nicolas, thanks to the large saltpans and nearby Santa Martha Bay being the most productive on the island. By the year 1910 the plantation produced 6000 barrels of salt. Between the years 1937 and 1938 the government auctioned the property for 35.000 guilders. Since then it had remained empty allowing such elements like rain and wind erosion to take their toll on the plantation. In 2014 the Monument Protection Department of Curacao finished the restoration of the plantation. Today Landhuis Klein Santa Martha is a boutique hotel and restaurant. The boutique hotel offers 4 awesome rooms and 1 apartment. The personal care by the owners and the motivated team gives you a real 'home feeling', which our guests appreciate very much. Our well-known restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.

Around the country house

The country house is located in Banda Bou, the rural part of the island with its beautiful natural beaches (Kas Abao, Daai Booi Bay, Grote Knip, Playa Lagun, Playa Piscado, just to name but a few). From here it is only a short ride to see the awesome sights of Curaçao, such as Christoffel Park or Shete Boka with its rugged coast. Hofi Pastor with the oldest tree on the island or the wonderfull Blue Grotto. Westpunt with Wata Mula, the small Sunday market of Barber or the Get Together which takes place every first Sunday of the month in the Landhuis Ascension. In this area of the island you can experience the real Curaçao.
